About the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment
The American Center for Life Cycle Assessment (
ACLCA
) is a non-profit membership organization formed in 2001, with many individual and key industry members. It is the professional society for Life Cycle Assessment (
LCA
) in the United States. The work of
ACLCA
is primarily carried out through the members working in the organization’s various Committees.
This is an important organization for companies and individuals who are dedicated to supporting
LCA
as an effective tool for measuring and communicating environmental issues related to the products and services they produce.
ACLCA
serves as the main point of contact for all key industry players in the
LCA
lifecycle and plays a key role in US policy related to product category labels.
The world is rapidly developing and companies are now faced with a key challenge, to increase production whilst reducing their carbon footprint.
LCA
allows these companies to accurately asses their carbon footprint and develop Type III
ecolabels
called an Environmental Product Declaration (
EPD
), which disclose their environmental impact to their customers.
ACLCA
is a part of the Institute for Environmental Research and Education (
IERE
), a 501(c)3 organization.
