Committee Mission:

The education committee is tasked with providing educational content to the LCA community.  The committee seeks to keep abreast of the latest changes in the industry and make sure these are communicated effectively and appropriately to the ACLCA member’s and the industry as a whole.  Members of the education committee typically donate about 5 hours per month for the tasks involved.

Activities:

  • A textbook for LCA is being written, with a target of being ready for the 2013-2014 school year. It will cover a year-long course of study aimed at upper division college or possibly graduate level students. It is intended to be coupled with practicum work. Rita Schenck and Philip White are editing, with many others authoring chapters.  The book will be produced in English and Spanish, with the potential for other languages.

History:

The Educational Committee was formed in 2010 to first help the ACLCA with content communication. It has since served as a key committee for the industry, providing members with necessary resources to ensure a standard is created for the LCA lifecycle.
