Embedding Risk-Assessment into LCA: Options for Assessing Risk and Environmental Impacts Along the Entire Product Life Cycle March 30, 2016 1PM - 2PM(ET)
Presenters:Rebecce LeBlanc, LCA Resource & George Thompson, Chemical Compliance Systems, Inc
The building products market (and, all market sectors for that matter) in the US and internationally are being increasingly obligated to provide transparency data related to both its environmental and human health impacts along the entire supply-chain. Unfortunately for these product manufacturers, there are limited methodologies available to assess the risk to human health and safety.
Different organizations have started efforts assessing hazards only. This oversimplified and non-scientific hazard-based approach results in manufacturers and consumers (product users) unable to make informed decisions regarding their potential for exposure to harmful ingredients.
By extending life-cycle assessment to include risk-assessment at the chemical, manufacturing, use and disposal level-we are able to provide both manufacturers and other stakeholders with a science-based approach to assessing safety and human health risks along the entire value chain.
George Thompson and Rebecca LeBlanc will utilize iFu's Umberto LCA software and ChemPly's GreenSuite to provide options for assessing risk, in addition to environmental impacts, along the entire product life cycle. Register Today!
