Minutes of the Certification Management Committee - 8 January 2008
The committee met by phone. In attendance were Gary Jacubcin, Richard Heinish, Mattias Fischer, Rita Schenck, Inez Sousa and Liila Woods.
The Committee reviewed the complaints procedure, making one change in the figure for the appeals. With that change the procedure can be posted.
It also reviewed the other changes to the management system document.
The suggested changes were
• to include the parenthetical expression (8.5”x 11”) in section 7 on the 4th bullet, and
• to reference the complaints procedure.There was some suggestion that we might need a complaints procedure for the certification process itself (e.g. that it was biased, or improperly conducted, or improperly graded). IERE is open to legal action on this point, and Rita will discuss the issue with counsel to decide whether and what should be done to address this issue.
We cannot finalize the document without the section on the criteria (under development by the criteria committee) but we can post the incomplete draft for public comment. Before we do that, we should have new eyes check the document against the requirements of the ISO standard. Gary will look into whether he has the standard and make that comparison. Once the check is complete, the draft will be posted and Rita will send out a notice to the interested parties.
The committee will meet again on 5 February. It is likely that this will be the last meeting of this committee.
